Roller-Coaster

Slowly pulled up the track. Click Click Click Click then at the top a pause and suddenly your on your way down the track twisting and turning, inverting and grasping. Do you remember the pause? Elated at the conclusion everyone recounts the experience...the twist..the turn..the pause? No not the pause that's not really part of the "ride". You see original thought is like the pause. It is something that has been pushed aside by the experience of everyday life. So now I challenge you to find the pause on your roller-coaster of consciousness. Like the pause at the top of the track it is when you can see everything clearly, no rush, no twists. So when you begin to ponder and develop the skill of ORIGINAL thinking it will start at a place just before the normal cascade of thinking begins. Derail your normal roller-coaster of synaptic events and slowly..click click click back to the beginning of the ride. There you will step off the roller-coaster of everyday ideas and information overload..you will set your mind in a new direction, a genisis of your very own paradigm shift.

Could you be a Social Entrepreneur?

The role of a social entrepreneur is to see when a sector of society is stagnate and to renew it with a new approach. He or she finds what is not working and solves the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution and persuading entire societies to take new leaps.
Identifying and solving complex social problems motivates a social entrepreneur to create original thought and endevor to envision a bold solution and then commit with keen determination to transform the status quoe. Social entrepreneurs go beyond the immediate problem to fundamentally change communities, societies, the world..."While a business entrepreneur may thrive on competition and profit, a social entrepreneur has a different motivation: a commitment to leading through inclusiveness of all actors in society and a dedication to changing the systems and patterns of society." - John Woolman led U.S. Quakers to voluntarily emancipate all their slaves between 1758 and 1800, his work also influenced the British Society of Friends, a major force behind the British decision to ban slaveholding. Quakers, of course, became a major force in the U.S. abolitionist movement as well as a key part of the infrastructure of the Underground Railroad. His Original thought changed the world.

What is a Paradigm Shift?

par·a·digm
One that serves as a pattern or model.
A set or list of all the inflectional forms of a word or of one of its grammatical categories: the paradigm of an irregular verb.
A set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline.

USAGE NOTE Paradigm first appeared in English in the 15th century, meaning “an example or pattern,” and it still bears this meaning today: Since the 1960s, paradigm has been used in science to refer to a theoretical framework, as when Nobel Laureate David Baltimore cited the work of two colleagues that “really established a new paradigm for our understanding of the causation of cancer.” Thereafter, researchers in many different fields, including sociology and literary criticism, often saw themselves as working in or trying to break out of paradigms. Applications of the term in other contexts show that it can sometimes be used more loosely to mean “the prevailing view of things.”

So if the notion of Peak Oil is true ( the idea that the world is running out of cheap oil) then we are in store for a Paradigm shift. However we are in great need of a Paradigm Shift in many arenas of conciousness. Can you think of any?

Original Think...like "Reverse Causation"

Thought I might give an example of a Paradigm Shift.............

In the 19th century, Scottish mathematician and physicist James Clerk Maxwell developed equations explaining how electricity and magnetism work in tandem. It was Maxwell, in fact, who determined that electromagnetic energy, such as light and radio, traveled in waves through empty space at the speed of light.
But Maxwell's equations say nothing about the direction of time. It's irrelevant. The equations work equally well whether electromagnetic waves arrive after or before they are transmitted. In effect, writes Paul Davies, a physicist at the Australian Centre for Astrobiology and author of “About Time,” the waves “are indifferent to the distinction between past and future.”
Most physicists accept the idea of time symmetry (at least in the context of things like Maxwell's equations). The same cannot be said of reverse causation, which goes farther by suggesting the future can influence the past.
First, imagine a large boulder at the top of a hill. The boulder begins rolling downhill. Now freeze the action with the boulder midway along its descent. Call this the boulder's present. At this point in time, Sheehan says the boulder is being influenced both by its past (when it was atop the hill) and by its future (when it will come to rest at the bottom of the hill). The boulder's current position midway down the hill cannot happen without the effect of both the past and the future.
“The present is always a negotiation between the past and the future,” said Sheehan.
Or think about this: You're invited to a Saturday wedding. On Friday, you go to the barber for a haircut. As you sit in the chair, the future is influencing the present. The wedding hasn't happened. It may not happen at all. And yet its possibility changes what will be the past.

Original Thought

Have you had yours today? Have you had one this week? Can you think of one you thought this year? An Original Thought! Quick think of one right now! How did you do? I'm afraid that the spirit of our humanity, the life blood of our soul is missing. The illumination of our intellect that lights the path through the present into our future is so dim that we are in the dark only grasping onto what feels familiar.

We are holding on so tight to the way things are, the way thing have been that we have stopped thinking for ourselves in creative outbursts that are a genesis. It is time for us to begin anew, set a course of change to a new tomorrow given birth by original thought. This is a call for you, me, all of us to start today..to practice..to muse..to write out..to sieze..to let go of what we are holding onto in the dark and light our way with the spark of flame that makes us human and light the way for tomorrow. Illuminate your life and the lives of all mankind with Original Thought!
